Your pension with the Scheme

If you’re receiving a pension from the Scheme, this page explains:

  • what support may be available for your family after you die
  • when and how increases may apply
  • how to manage your details and get help

What can you do now?

How your family may be supported after you die?

If you die after your pension has started being paid, we may pay your beneficiaries:

  • a lump sum if you die within the five‑year guarantee period, based on the remaining pension you would have received for that period
  • a pension payable to a dependant for their lifetime, which may be reviewed for increases

The Trustee decides who should receive any lump sum payment.

Ensure your pension goes to the people who matter most

It’s important to tell us who you would like your pension benefits to be paid to if the worst happens.

How do pension increases work?
Your pension is reviewed for increases on 1 January each year
Increases may take account of inflation
Different elements of your pension may increase at different rates
If you have been retired for less than a year, a proportionate increase applies in the first year

Not all pensions will receive increases, as this depends on the make‑up of your pension and the Scheme Rules.

Information about any increase is communicated to you each year ahead of the increase date. If you have questions, you can contact the Scheme administrator.

Reporting a death

To report the death of a Scheme member, you should contact the Scheme administrator.  You’ll need to provide:

The member’s National Insurance number or Scheme membership number
The date they died
Your relationship to the member and your contact details
Whether the member has a surviving spouse or dependants

Update/check my details?

It’s important to tell us if you’ve moved house, got married or have a long term partner. It helps us make sure we can pay your benefits promptly. The Trustee also needs to know who you would like to receive any lump sum benefit payable on your death. The quickest way to update your details is online at Clarity or you can contact the Scheme administrator.

Get a copy of my pension payslip?

Payslips are available every month on Clarity. If you have an account set up, you’ll receive an email notification when it’s uploaded. Physical payslip copies are only issued if there’s a substantial change to the amount being paid, with a P60 summary of all payments sent at the end of the tax year.
